Meet 20,000 residents of San Francisco Bay at Aquarium of the Bay, a literally immersive exhibit which includes a moving walkway through 300ft of crystal-clear acrylic tunnels underneath 700,000 gallons of seawater in a 50,000 sq-ft tank. Meet 50 species of sharks face to face as they swim past only inches away. Observe Skates and Bat Rays and a variety of species including Eels, Garibaldi, Flatfish, Wrasse, Gobies, Kelpfish, Ronquil, Sculpin and Sturgeons - all the locals come to greet you as you travel through the viewing tunnel just as if you took a stroll through their neighbourhood!Touch the Bay, another exhibit in Aquarium of the Bay, allows you to physically interact with some species at rock pool tanks. Here, under the guidance and care of attendants, you can touch and pet several species including bat rays, skates, leopard sharks, sea stars / starfish and sea cucumbers.
Truly interactive, this living exhibit brings you closer than ever to experiencing life in the Bay, not just life around the Bay. Located within a few minutes walk of the Pier 39 visitor attraction and amusements center, Aquarium of the Bay is both a fascinating educational museum where you can learn so much and care for our maritime neighbours - and also, tremendous fun for all ages.
