USS Pampanito Conning Tower - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama taken from the conning tower of the USS Pampanito submarine (SS-383) moored at Pier 45 in Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. The conning tower is not open to the public, though much of the rest of the submarine is, so this panorama shows a unique view over the submarine and the surrounding area, close up to one of the guns. Beyond the conning tower to the north is Alcatraz and Angel Island. The panorama also shows one of the pleasure cruises departing from pier 43.
