King Pradjadhipok Museum

King Pradjadhipok Museum

The King Pradjadhipok (Rama VIII) Museum is on Thanon Lan Luang, very close to the base of the Golden Mount in Bangkok. The museum documents the rule and achievements of Rama VII. Rama VIII reigned in Thailand for 10 years and oversaw the change from rule by absolute monarchy to rule by constitutional monarchy.

This was a radical change in the politics in Thailand at the time in 1932. In 1935 Rama VII abdicated after relations between the king and the new political authorities soured.

Other attractions near to the King Pradjadhipok Museum include Wat Rajnadda, Loh Prasat and the amulet market, the Queens Gallery and the Golden Mount. The Phra Mahakan Fortress is just also over the road.
