Santichaiprakarn Park - FURTHER INFORMATION
Santichaiprakarn Park - Bangkok visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Santichaiprakarn Park' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Central Thailand.
Santichaiprakarn Park on the corner of Thanon Phra Athit and Thanon Phra Sumen. The park was created next to the Phra Sumen Fortress, one of two remaining hexagonal fortresses built to defend the Ratanakosin area where the royal family built the Grand Palace (the other existing fortress is Phra Mahakan Fortress).
As well as backing onto the Phra Sumen Fortress, the park also looks over the Chao Phraya River. From here you get good views along the river, especially of the new Rama VIII Bridge upstream. The park contains a Thai style pavilion and numerous sculptures. It is popular with young Thai people who fill the benches in the park in the evening. The park has become a place where breakdancers will gather to show of their tricks.
Thanon Phra Athit contains a number of eateries, while just a little way down Thanon Phra Sumen is Wat Bowoniwes. A bridge crossing Khlong Banglamphu canal forms the eastern edge of the park. This leads to Samsen 1 and Wat Sangwet Witsayaram.
