Panorama of Santa Monica State Beach. The panorama was taken from the beach north of the pier, which can be seen protruding into the sea with a ferris wheel on top. The coastline is fairly developed with numerous hotels and holiday apartments. To the north are the hills of Topnanga State Park. Interspersed along the length of the beach at regular intervals are life guard stations and bins.

Santa Monica lies west of central Los Angeles, and is probably best known for the beach and the Santa Monica Pier. The pier contains Pacific Park amusement center and the Santa Monica Aquarium.

Santa Monica is at the end of the Santa Monica Freeway (IH10)
