A panorama of the center of Romsey. The panorama was taken late in the afternoon and shows the main town square (Market Place) and Town Hall. In the middle of the Market Square is a statue of Lord Palmerston, a 19th century British Prime Minister who grew up locally.

Romsey is a small market town that grew up around Romsey Abbey (founded in 907 AD. It is close to both Winchester and Southampton, just beyond the northeast corner of the New Forest in Hampsire.

Romsey is 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Southampton (A3057 road) and 11 miles (18 km) south-west of Winchester (A3090 road).
