Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum - Further Information

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is the first, largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisation in the world.

The RFDS of Australia is a not-for-profit charitable Service providing air ambulance emergency and primary health care services together with communication and education assistance to people who live, work and travel in regional and remote Australia.

Founded in 1928 by the Rev. John Flynn of the Australian Inland Mission, it married the fledgling technologies of flight and radio communication to provide a vital lifeline to those in remote and pioneering under-resourced communities. The Service retains the very highest regard from the people of Australia and is heavily reliant on community support for funding. The RFDS operates in four sectors of Australia - Central, Western, Queensland and South Eastern Section.
