Wawona Road is one of the main tourist routes into Yosemite National Park. Along the road is the Wawona Tunnel, which marks the beginning of the Yosemite Valley proper. Here a large viewpoint allows people to stop and admire the views before continuing to the base of the valley. In the far distance on the left side of the valley is , one of the most famous mountains in Yosemite Park. It is about another 30 minute drive from here to Yosemite Village along Southside Drive. On the way visitors will pass Cathedral Beach, Sentinel Beach and Swinging Bridge, close to the trailhead for the Four Mile Trail. Another good place to get a view of a large part of the valley is Sentinel Meadow.
