Oakhurst town lies in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains very close to in California. Oakhurst is one of the most popular destinations for those visiting the nearby Yosemite National Park, where millions of visitors enjoy walking, hiking and climbing with skiing in the winter. Because and the town is full of hotels and motels and has plenty of restaurants and caffes to cater for the tourist trade. Also within the town is the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau with visitor information and maps about the local hotels and attractions.
Aside from Yosemite, Oakhurst also has a number of other local attractions that are worth visiting. Both the Grimmer Gallery and Timberline Gallery contain works by local artist. In May Oakhurst holds the annual Oakhurst Area Mountain Peddlers Fair which also has arts and crafts as well as mountain activities. Nearby is the Ahwahnee Golf Course & Resort, and there are several other golf courses in neighboring towns. Bass Lake, just north of the town, is popular for fishing, boating and other water sports.

Oakhurst is at the junction of the 41 and 49 about 50 miles south of Yosemite Village. It is about 200 miles form San Francisco and 260 miles from Los Angeles.
