Cadney - FURTHER INFORMATION
Cadney - Cadney visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Cadney' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from South Australia.
Cadney lies on the Stuart Highway between Adelaide and Darwin in the Northern Territory. A welcome sight in the dusty desert outback, Cadney is a small service facility for refueling, resting and has a homestead which offers overnight accommodation. There is also a railway station here.
Cadney is certainly a place you'll see when traveling on this arterial highway, or if visiting opal-mining country. Cadney lies between Mintabie and Coober Pedy, townships whose names are famous throughout the world as being locations where exceptionally fine jewelry quality opal gems are sourced. In this region, there are conservation parks and a desert recreational reserve. Large eagles are spotted here and this 'painted desert' landscape offers intensely colourful sunsets, often remarked about in travelers blogs who stay here by chance to break a long journey and are surprised by the beauty of nature in the evening light.
