Seattle - FURTHER INFORMATION

Seattle - Seattle visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Seattle' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Washington.

Welcome to our guide and map of Seattle, the largest city in Washington State on the west coast of the USA. Seattle is famous for it's annual 24-day Seattle International Film Festival. Seattle is a city of culture, home to Starbucks coffee and close to the Olympic Mountains and Cascade Mountains. This Seattle guide is made of numerous 360 panoramas taken around Seattle linked to Google maps. Along with each panoramic image is some local and travel information. This is a growing guide showing some of the sights and attractions around the city.

One of the most famous landmarks in Seattle is the Space Needle in the Seattle Center. The civic center has a collection of museums, galleries and other attractions all gathered in one place. Here you will find an amusement park, the Experience Music Project and the International Fountain.

It is a short walk from the Seattle Center to the parks and piers on Elliot Bay. On the way, pass through Olympic Sculpture Park, an open air collection of sculptures and then walk through Myrtle Edwards Park to the north or south past Pier 66, from which there are great views over Puget Sound, towards the Seattle CBD. Most of the piers on the waterfront have been developed and now house shops, arcades and restaurants like Anthony's Pier 66. On the way pass Waterfront Park by Pier 57.

Another popular area in Seattle is Lake Union, less than a mile from the Seattle Center. Here you can get scenic flights over Seattle and the Puget Sound from Kenmore Planes, whose jetties are on the western side of the lake. At the southern end is Lake Union Park and Historic Ships Wharf. At the northern end of the lake is Gas Works Park and canals that link Lake Union to Washington Lake to the east and Puget Sound to the west. Find a cafe, sit back and watch the boats on the water or take a cruise yourself.

Another famous landmark of Seattle is Pike Place Market, a treasure trove of arts and crafts stalls, a farmers market and other shops. This market sees over 10 million visitors each year. For high street shopping, visit the area around the Westlake Center, where most of the most prestigious shops in Seattle are found.

For those wishing to explore further afield, Seattle is close to the Olympic Mountains and the Cascade Mountains. These offer all the usual mountain outdoor sporting activities in both summer and winter. Day trips from Seattle to Victoria on Vancouver Island in Canada are also popular. Both the WA State Ferries near Pier 55 and Kenmore Planes on Lake Union offer trips to Vancouver Island.
