Sant Elm bay - FURTHER INFORMATION

Sant Elm is a small village about 10 minutes drive from Port d'Andratx over a low mountain range on the west coast of Mallorca. Previously known as San Telmo, Sant Elm is very popular with pleasure boats and yachts which make day-trips here from Andraxt Marina. This picture shows the view of the bay from the bow of a pleasure boat.
In recent years the coastline of Sant Elm has been developed for tourism and now contains several hotels, beach resorts and holiday apartments on the hills around the beach. The area is popular with walkers who trek up to the nature reserve of La Trapa or to the Torre de Cala en Basset in the early morning, returning by lunch time to enjoy fresh sea food in one of the several good restaurants with views over the cala and sea.
Within the bay is Dragonera Natural Park, consisting of the Dragonera island (so called as it resembles a dragon's spine) and the islets Es Pantaleu and Na Mitjana. Dragonera contains three lighthouses and can be visited by boat from the village. Private boats can also visit the island, but must first obtain a permit from the Mallorca Council. The bay offers excellent swimming and snorkeling.
