The Chasm on Otago Peninsula - FURTHER INFORMATION
The Chasm on Otago Peninsula - Otago Peninsula visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'The Chasm on Otago Peninsula' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Otago.
The Chasm and Lovers Leap are two points on the southern side of the Otago Peninsula, just to the east of Sandfly Bay on the flanks of Sandymount. Here the sea has carved notches into the cliffs with sheer 200m drops. These are both on a walking track that starts at the end of Sandymount Road. The base of Lovers Leap is still filled with water, while the notch base at the Chasm is dry.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
From Dunedin the two main routes to the peninsula are clearly marked. For Sandymount take the Highcliff Road and then Sandymount Road to parking near the end.
