Lovers Leap - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

Panorama taken from the lookout over the Lovers Leap on the Otago Peninsula. The picture was taken on a cloudy day and the weather was quickly closing in with moist air being pushed up over Sandymount. In the image you can just see the sea pushing through the base of the sea arch 200m below at the entrance to the notch cut into the cliffs.

Lovers Leap is a dramatic sea arch on the southern side of the Otago Peninsula. It lies between the Chasm and Sandfly Bay and can be accessed from either via hiking trails on Sandymount. Lovers Leap is formed from a point where the sea has cut an arch and notch through the basalt cliffs.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE

From Dunedin the two main routes to the peninsula are clearly marked. For Sandymount take the Highcliff Road and then Sandymount Road to parking near the end.
