Trail to the Chasm - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama showing the view of eastern end of Otago Peninsula from the trail to the Chasm. The picture was taken in spring 2008 on a day when the weather was quickly changing and what had been a sunny sky a short while before was closing in.
Trail to the Chasm - FURTHER INFORMATION
Trail to the Chasm - Otago Peninsula visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Trail to the Chasm' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Otago.
The path to the Chasm provides dramatic views over parts of the Otago Peninsula. From here the view east stretches over Hoopers Inlet to Allans Beach and Cape Saunders. The pole in the ground shown in the picutre is a trail marker. At this point the trail splits with the left proceeding to the Chasm. The right hand path leads to Lovers Leap and then on to Sandfly Bay.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
From Dunedin the two main routes to the peninsula are clearly marked. For Sandymount take the Highcliff Road and then Sandymount Road to parking near the end.
