This panorama was taken from the base of the Soldiers Memorial which stands on top of the Otago Peninsula. From here there are panoramic views over Otago Harbour and down the length of the Otago Peninsula. This is one of the high points on the peninsula, close to a trig point.

The Soldiers Memorial stands fenced off in a sheep paddock on top of a hill on the Otago Peninsula. From this vantage point you can see down the entire length of the Otago Harbour and also out to the Pacific Ocean. The town of Dunedin rests on the slopes of the hills at the western end of Otago Harbour, and can be seen just behind the Memorial Cross itself.

From Dunedin take Highcliff Road up onto the Otago Peninsula. There is a lay by on the road a short distance . From here there is a footpath up the hill and across the sheep paddock to the Soldiers Memorial.
