Otago Harbour from Highcliff Road - FURTHER INFORMATION
Otago Harbour from Highcliff Road - Otago Peninsula visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Otago Harbour from Highcliff Road' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Otago.
Highcliff Road is one of the main roads out onto the Otago Peninsula from Dunedin. The road travels along the peninsula near the top, giving good views over Otago Harbour. At Sandymount the road winds down towards Portobello Bay where it joins Harrington Point Road and continues along the coastline to the eastern end of the peninsula past Harrington Point ending up at the Royal Albatross Centre on Taiaroa Head.
At Sandymount there are narrow lanes that lead to parking for walks to rugged and isolated parts of the Otago Peninsula such as Sandfly Bay, Lovers Leap and The Chasm.
This picture shows the view from the layby at the Soldiers Memorial, which can be seen on top of the hill. The walk to the memorial is well worth it for panoramic views that take in the whole Otago Peninsula.
