This panorama shows the famous Stari most (Old Bridge) in Mostar. The city is named after this bridge which spans the river Neretva. The original Stari most was built in between 1557 and 1566. The angle span bridge was 29m long with a height of 20m above the river. The bridge had towers at either end and stood firm until it was destroyed by a tank unit during the Bosnian War in 1993. A modern version of the bridge was rebuilt in the same style and opened by Price Charles in 2004. Funds for the reconstruction came from various nations including Croatia, Italy the Netherlands, Spain Turkey and the United States.
