Timaru Botanic Gardens - Further Information

The Timaru Botanic Gardens are a little south of Timaru town centrer. The gardens cover 19 hectares and were established in 1864. Timaru Botanic Gardens have received national acclaim, with the largest rose collection in New Zealand, with 30 individual plant collections and an arboretum. Highlights of the gardens include the Graeme Paterson Conservatory, ponds and threatened plant collections. The gardens also contain a Shakespeare Theme Walk, trees of the world, an historic walk and two ponds. The gardens are open 365 days per year, from 8am till dusk.
