This picture shows the coastline around Shag Point. The panorama was taken late in the afternoon on a day of driving from Christchurch to Dunedin, having picked up a hiker who said that I really should see it. Glad I did.

Shag Point is a natural reserve and refuge in Otago, on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand some 60km north of Dunedin and a short distance from the Moeraki Boulders on Koekohe Beach.
Shag Point is a nature reserved named after the shags, a sea bird who come ashore to dry their wings after fishing expeditions. It is also well known the seals and yellow penguins that live here.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Shag Point is about 60km north of Dunedin Take the SH1 north and then turn onto Shag Point Road which leads to the end of Shag Point and the nature reserve. The trip there takes about an hour by car.
