Devil's Punchbowl Falls are a short walk from Arthur's Pass. It takes about an hour to do the 2km return route, which crosses a river before climbing up to a viewpoint near the waterfall itself. At 131m Devil's Punchbowl Falls are the tallest waterfall in the Arthur's Pass area. The amount of water flowing over Devil's Punchbowl Falls varies greatly with the seasons and weather conditions. There is a viewing platform near the falls, and another great view from a bridge on the path to the falls.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Road: Highway 73 from Christchurch. From Greymouth take the 6 south and then the 73 east. Walk from a parking lot just east of Arthur's Pass village.
Rail: TranzAlpine daily services from Christchurch.
