The Me-1 is the main road that runs along the length of Menorca terminating at Ciutadella de Menorca (Ciutadella) in the west and Mahon (Mao) in the east. It is called the Carretera de Ciutadella-Maó or Carretera de Maó-Ciutadella for much of it's length depending on the direction you are traveling.
This picture shows some of the hills just east of Ferreries, the first town 17km from Ciutadella. Thereafter, the road also passes through (25km) and Alaior (31km) en route for Mahon (40km). This panorama was taken just 3km from Ferreries near a junction where the road 'Cami de Tramuntana' leaves the C-271 heading north to the Castell de Santa Agueda and the small settlement of Binidalfa.
Car Hire in Menorca
Car hire in Menorca is very simple. Naturally, all the major international car hire companies like Avis, Hertz and Sixt are well represented at every major arrival point on Menorca. However, it is well worth investigating one of the numerous local, small and independent car hire companies that can be found in either Maó or Ciutadella. These car hire companies tend to be cheaper, and will certainly have more time to talk about what to see on Menorca while you holiday there. Wherever you hire you car from while you visit Menorca, you will not be disappointed by the scenery, towns and ruins that you discover touring around the small island.TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
