Buthcers Gully Lake is created by Butchers Gully Dam and is part of the Flat Top Hill Conservation Area. The dam and lake are a short distance south of Alexandra in Central Otago. The dam was built 1935 and 1937 to provide a reservoir for Alexandra, and flooded part of Butchers Gully. Water from the lake drains into the Clutha River near the northern end of Roxburgh Lake.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Road: Butchers Gully Lake and the Flat Top Hill Conservation Area are about 7km south of Alexandra on Highway 8.
