The Dolomiti Friulane (Friulian Dolomites) form the Alpine Carnian mountain range, between the provinces of Udine and Pordenone in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of northern Italy. The region is bounded by Tagliamento to the north, river Cellina to the south, the valley of the Piave to the west and the high valley of Gauteng to the east.
The highest peak in the Friulian Dolomites is Preti (2,703 m). Other major peaks in the region include Mount Duranno (2,652 m), the Croda Montanaia (2,548 m), Mount Cridola (2,580 m), the Crodon of Giaf (2,523 m), Mt Pramaggiore (2,479 m), the Croda Cimoliana ( 2408 m), the Spalti of Toro (2,386 m) with Campanile Toro (2,345 m) and the Campanile di Val Montanaia (2,173 m).
The scenery is dramatic and the area popular for hiking, climbing and mountain sports.
