The trail to Rock Peak takes about an hour ascending to a ridge and ending up at some kind of station at the top. The trail starts at a viewpoint by Crown Range Pass. The view from here looks down the Kawarau River Gorge. The Kawarau drains Lake Wakatipu from the Frankton Arm, close to Queenstown. It joins the Clutha River near to Cromwell, part way down Lake Dunstan at Cromwell Gorge.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Walk: An hour walk along a trail from a parking lot by Crown Range Road, about 29km north of Queenstown and 40km south of Wanaka.
