Gillespies Beach Headland - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama showing the headland at the northern end of Gillespies Beach. Here a small river crosses the beach draining from a small lagoon. The river and lagoon are influenced by the tides, and as the tide comes in the water in the lagoon changes colour. This picture was taken in the morning during the summer of 2008.

Gillespies Beach Headland - Fox Glacier visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Gillespies Beach Headland' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from West Coast.
Gillespies Beach, a short distance from Fox Glacier, grew up around alluvial gold mining, and the rusting gold mining dredges can still be found here. A four hour to a seal colony heads north along the beach to this headland. The path then crosses a small lagoon and passes an old minrs tunnel as it pases around the headland to the seal colony on Galway Beach.
