Lake Pearson lies in the Southern Alps in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. It has always been a popular spot for fishing, camping, swimming, picnicking and kayaking. Over the last few years, it has also become an increasingly popular area for power boating, jet skiing, water-skiing and windsurfing. The surrounding hills are popular for day hikes and tramping. It is part of the Lake Pearson Conservation Area and has been used as a food source by the Ngai Tahu Maori people.
The lake lies next to Highway 73 as it passes through the Southern Alps. Next to it is Flock Hill Station, which provides back packer accommodation and food. Flock Hill Station is a working sheep station.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Lake Pearson is on Highway 73, some 34km south of Arthurs Pass and about 15km north of Castle Hill.
