Whitianga is a popular resort on Mercury Bay on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand, used as a launch site for big game fishing in Mercury Bay. Tourist cruises depart from the quay, next to Long Beach, taking visitors around the bay. A passenger ferry also crosses over the narrow straits of Whitianga Harbour to Ferry Landing on the far side, allowing access to Cooks Beach, Shakespeare Cliff and the Purangi Reserve.
