Highway 25 winds along the western coastline of the Coromandel Peninsula in the Waikato region of New Zealand. Between Thames and Coromandel the road hugs the shore, winding around sharp bends and bays, giving dramatic, if sometimes scary, views along the coast.
The section of Highway 25 pictured here lies between Waiomu (known for the Waiomu Holiday Park and beach) and Rumahunga, two small towns on the west coast of Cormandel. Both these towns are at the mouths of rivers of the same names that wind down from the hills behind them.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Waiomu and Rumahunga are on Highway 25, about 15km north of Thames and 40km south of Coromandel. They are about about 130km from Auckland
