This panorama was taken between Waiomu and Rumahunga on the Coromandel Peninsula. The road follows the western side of the peninsula and the coastline is very beautiful.

Waiomu and Rumahunga lie on the western coast of the Coromandel Peninsula in the Waikato region of New Zealand. They are at the mouths of the Waiomu River and Rumahunga River, both of which wind down valleys from the Cormandel ranges.

These are just two of several small towns along Highway 25 as it winds along the coastline between Thames and Coromandel. Waiomu is known for Waiomu Holiday Park, set in the valley near to the Waiomu Kauri Grove. This walking track is a 2 hour return winding through bush, up to the Monowai Goldmine battery site and then to a ridge where one of the best stands of Kauri trees on the Coromandel Peninsula can be found.

Waiomu and Rumahunga are on Highway 25, about 15km north of Thames and 40km south of Coromandel. They are about about 130km from Auckland
