Melbourne from the Shrine of Remembrance - FURTHER INFORMATION
Melbourne from the Shrine of Remembrance - Melbourne visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Melbourne from the Shrine of Remembrance' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Victoria.
The Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne is the largest ANZAC war memorial in Australia. Inside are the Sanctuary and Crypt. Originally the Shrine of Remembrance was built as a memorial to the WWI dead from Victoria, but became the prime memorial for all of Australia's war dead. National remembrance services are held here on ANZAC Day (25 April) and Remembrance Day (11 November) ceremonies.
The Shrine of Remembrance resembles a pyramid. In the base is a crypt and the actual shrine is on one of the upper levels. A walkway encircles the shrine on the outside and from here there are good views over the central part of Melbourne.
