Waitangi is an important historic site on the Bay of Islands in Northland in northern New Zealand. Here the Treaty of Waitangi was signed on 6 February 1840 was signed between the British and Māori peoples officially making New Zealand part of the British Empire. There has been much debate over the exact meaning in the treaty, as there are significant differences between the English and Māori versions. This has led to conflict at various times and the matter is still unresolved.
Near to Waitangi is the Bay of Islands Yacht Club.

Waitangi is about 232km north of Auckland on the SH1 followed by SH11. It is about 2.5km from Paihia.
