Castle Mount Funicular (Sikló)

Castle Mount Funicular (Sikló)

This panorama was taken from the top of the funicular (Sikló) that runs up Castle Mount from Clark Ádám tér near the Chain Bridge (Széchenyi Lánchid) at the base of Castle Mount to Szent György tér right by the Buda Royal Palace.

The glass funicular station at the top of the Sikló has a viewing platform over the track. From here you get great views over Budapest and the River Danube. A fantastic statue of the mythical Hungarian eagle, Turul Statue, stands poised with spread wings to one side of the Budavári Sikló station, watching over visitors ascending to the Buda Palace and Castle grounds.

This is an easy was to ascend up Castle Mount (Várhegy). The Castle District has much to offer tourists including Matthias Church (Mátyás Templom), Fishermans Bastion, Vienna Gate Square, Budapest History Museum and numerous other museums aside from various hotels and restaurants.
