Taipa River flows a short distance east from the hills of Northland in New Zealand into Doubtless Bay. The small settlement of Taipa is built at the mouth, which has a long, sandy beach that stretches the length of Taipa Bay. The beach is lined with motels, the Taipa Bay Beach Resort and some Bed & Breakfast facilities. Highway 10 crosses the Taipa River a short distance inland, linking it to Cable Bay.

Taipa is on Highway 10 about 310km north of Auckland. It is 85km north of Paihia and the Bay of Islands.
