Lake Union Park - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This panorama was taken from the edge of Lake Union at Lake Union Park on the southern end. The park was being developed when I visited Seattle in 2008 and on a sunny day offers a fantastic place to relax and watch the boats and yachts on the water.
Lake Union Park - FURTHER INFORMATION
Lake Union Park - Seattle visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Lake Union Park' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Washington.
Lake Union Park is a new park at the southern end of Lake Union in Seattle. From here there are views all the way down the lake to Gas Works Park at the northern end. Lake Union Park has been designed to celebrate the maritime history of Seattle and along the shoreline is Historic Ships Wharf where a number of historic boats and ships are moored, some of them open to the public. One of the most famous of these is the Lady Washington, which was featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Also within Lake Union Park is the old Armory which is now used for various social events, weddings and church meetings. Lake Union Park is within easy access of Seattle's CBD as there is a station here for the new South Lake Union Streetcar which opened in 2007. It is under a mile's walk from here to the Seattle Center and Seattle Space Needle.
