Kaneilio Point - FURTHER INFORMATION
Kaneilio Point - Oahu visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Kaneilio Point' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Hawaii.
Kaneilio Point at Wai'anae is important historically as the location of the ruins of the Kuilioloa Heiau. The temple contains three platforms which represent the levels of enlightenment and spirituality. Being on the end of a short peninsula, the temple is surrounded on three sides by the Pacific Ocean. It is thought that Ku'ilioloa was built by Lonokaeho in the 11th or 12 Century. It was dedicated to the Polynesian god of Ku.
Kaneilio Point separates Pokai Bay Beach and Lualualei Beach, close to Waianae Small Boat Harbor at Wai'anae on the Waianae Coast of Oahu island in Hawaii. It is offers great views along the coastline of Oahu and of the Wai'anae Mountains. To the north are the summits of Puu Keaau (808m) and Puu Kepauula (816m), Kaala (1068m) and Puu Kalena( 1068m). The range continues round the back of Lualualei Valley past Puu Hapapa (879m), Puu Kaua (953m) and Palikea (846m) before finishing at the coast around Pili o Kahe Beach. To the north the view along the coast extends all the way to Lahilahi Point
