Sunset Beach Park and Sunset Beach are north of Banzai Beach and south of Sunset Point Beach Park on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. Along with Banzia Beach, Sunset Beach is a very popular surfing spot on Oahu during the winter months when surf regularly reaches 20 feet. Nearby is the world famous Banzai Pipeline off shore fro Ehukai Beach Park just to the south.
During the calm summer months, the waters off Sunset Beach are very clear and this is then a popular snorkeling and swimming spot with large tidal pools. However, in the winter the Sunset Rip current makes the waters dangerous for swimming.
Sunset Beach is part of a 4 mile stretch of sandy beaches along the North Shore. This begins just north of Kalalua Point with Banzai Beach and then progresses through Sunset Beach, Sunset Point Beach, Kaunala Beach, Waialee Beach Park and Pahipahialua Beach ending up at Kawela Bay.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Banzai Beach is just north of Pupukea, about 8 miles from Haleiwa (10 miles from Wailua) and 36 miles from Honolulu.
