The Amorient Aquafarm contains breeding ponds for shrimp and other seafood. Stands beside the road sell shrimp and seafood produce. The stands have become popular and next to it are various shops selling antiques and tourist related merchandise.
Amorient Aquafarm is next to the James Campbell National Historical Reserve, near to Kakuku and La'ie on the northeast of Oahu in Hawaii. This wildlife reserve contains the Punamano Pond Unit and Ki'i Pond Unit, which are naturally occurring, spring-fed marsh ponds. The reserve covers almost 1000 acres of marshland, habitat to around 75 endangered species of plants and animals. Within the reserve is the last remaining large scale coastal dune ecosystem on Oahu and provides a vital nesting ground for migratory birds as well as feeding grounds for the Hawaiian coot, Hawaiian duck, Hawaiian moorhen and Hawaiian stilt, all of which are endangered. The park is open to the public between August and February.
