Malaekahana Bay is part of the Malaekahana State Recreation Area, the first native run campground on Oahu, and reportedly one of the safest. This gated park has 40 basic campsites and 5 furnished camping yurts for 2 to 6 people. Visitors are greeted by a sandy beach on a curved bay with good swimming and snorkeling. The park is home to many sea turtles (honu) and fishing from Makahoa Point to the north is considered to be among the best on the Windward Coast of Oahu.
