Citadel

Citadel

The Citadel on the top of Gellért Hill (Gellérthegy) is one of the more popular tourist attractions in Budapest. The Citadel has a commanding position offering panoramic views over Budapest. Part of the Citadel has been converted into a hotel which retains much of the cramped feel of an army base and has a photographic exhibition about war mounted in the corridors. There are a number of museums in the Citadel including the Wax Museum and the story of WWII in the Bunker.

The Liberty Statue is next to the Citadel.
