Tulln - FURTHER INFORMATION

Tulln - Tulln visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Tulln' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Niederoesterreich.

Tulln is the principle town within Niederösterreich region of Austria. The full name of the town is 'Tulln an der Donau' (Tulln on the Danube). The city has a large number of parks and open spaces giving it the nickname 'Blumenstadt' (City of Flowers).

Tulln was settled in pre-Roman times, making it one of the oldest cities in Austria, but gained significance during the Roman period as a fort town, known then as Comagena (Comagenis). Among the sights in Tulln is the Nibelungen-Brunnen (Nibelungen Fountain) which marks Tulln as the place where Atilla the Hun supposedly saw and proposed to Gudrun.

A short distance southwest of Tulln an der Donau is the market town of Atzenbrugg, whose major landmark is the Schloss Atzenbrugg (Atzenbrugg Castle)

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE

Tulln is about 44km northwest of Vienna on the 14. An alternative, faster route is to take the A22 and S5, but these are toll roads.
