Sankt Pölten Land (Bezirk St. Pölten-Land) is a district within Niederoesterreich in Austria. The principle city of the region is Sankt Pölten (St. Pölten) on the banks of the Traisen River, in the plain between the Danube and the foothills of the Alps. Sankt Pölten is full of Baroque architecture, which attracts visitors.
Within the region are the castles of Schloss Kreisbach, Schloss Pottenbrunn in Pottenbrunn, Schloss Wasserburg (now converted into a country hotel), and Burg Weißenburg (White Castle) near to Weissenburg. Herzogenburg has an historic monastery and the area around Lilienfeld is covered with wooded forests, ideal for hill walking and hiking. Skiing is possible in both Lackenhof and Waidhofen.
Between Sankt Pölten and Vienna are the Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), which covers 1,000 square kilometres of land.
