Makapuu Beach Park - FURTHER INFORMATION
Makapuu Beach Park - Oahu visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Makapuu Beach Park' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Hawaii.
Makapu'u Beach Park lies below the eastern face of Makapu'u Beach on the Windward Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. A little to the north are Kaupo Beach and Makai Research Pier. Just over the road is Sea Life Park Hawaii.
Makapu'u is Hawaiian for 'Bulging Eyes'. The beach is very popular for body boarding, but has a poor reputation for swimming due to riptides. The beach park has life guards, picnic areas, BBQ grill points, restrooms, showers and public phones.
Just off shore from Makapuu Beach Park are both Mana Island (Rabbit Island) and Kaohikaipu Island (Turtle Island). Both of these are important bird sanctuary islands, closed to the public, which add to the picturesque setting of Makapuu Beach.
