The Gartenbaukino cinema in Vienna has the largest film hall in Austria, capable of seating around 750 people. The Gartenbau Kino is a cinema in the grand, old style. It was originally built in 1919 and refurbished in 1960. Today the Gartenbau retains plush seats, grand sweeping carpets and a feel more akin to a grand theatre hall than a cinema. The Gartenbau hosts the annual international film festival in Vienna. Within the foyer is the lovely Philiale café.
