Ala Moana Beach Park - Oahu visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Ala Moana Beach Park' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Hawaii.
Ala Moana Beach Park covers about 76 between the mouth of the Ali Wai Canal and Kewalo Basin in Honolulu. Running along the back of the park, on the opposite side of Ala Moana Blvd, is the famous Ala Moana Shopping Center. Just to the east are Ala Wai Boat Harbour and then the beaches of Waikiki, the most heavily touristed area of Oahu.
Ala Moana Beach Park is man made, the result of dumping dredged material from the bay. In the 1950's sand was deposited along the reclaimed land bequeathing Ala Monana Park with a sandy beach over over half a mile long, protected by an off shore reef. The water here is calm and suitable for swimming. The beach has life guards, and in the park behind the beach are numerous picnic areas, showers and toilets.
Extending out into the sea from Ala Moana Beach Park is a small peninsula, called Magic Island. There is another beach lagoon at the end of Magic Island and great views along the coast west past Waikiki to Diamond Head.
