Parenzana - FURTHER INFORMATION

La Parenzana (Slovenian: 'Porečanka' or 'Poreška'; Croatian: 'Porečka') was a railway line from Trieste in Italy, through Slovenia and ending in Poreč in Croatia. The line operated between 1902 and 1935. Planning for the line began in the late 1800's.
All the track from La Parenzana has now been lifted, but most of the embankments, tunnels, bridges, viaducts and cuttings remain, as do a number of the stations en route (now used as private homes or shops). The route is often used today for walking and cycling. This panorama shows the view of the surrounding countryside from part of the route through the Croatian hills near Završje.
