The Albertina is an important museum in the heart of Vienna next to the Burggarten and Hofburg, behind the Vienna Staatsoper. Inside is one of the largest collections of drawings and prints in the world. The Albertina contains over 65,000 drawings and more than 1 million prints of the old masters. The collection started in 1776 when Genoese count Giacomo Durazzo, the Austrian ambassador in Venice, presented Duke Albert with nearly 1,000 pieces of art.
