St Patrick's Cathedral is the Catholic Cathedral in Melbourne. The land on which St Patrick's Cathedral stands was given to the church in 1801, only 12 years after the foundation of Melbourne.
St Patrick's was designed by William Wardell who also designed St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney. The cathedral was designed in Gothic Revival style similar to the Cathedral of St Stephen in Brisbane. St. Patrick's stands next to Fitzroy Square and just behind Parliament House.
