Marmaris is a port town on the southwest coast of the Muğla Province of Turkey. An ancient town with a rich history, Marmaris is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Turkey with hundreds of thousands of visitors each year between May and October, when the population of the town swells from around 80,000 to over 300,000 at peak periods.
Marmaris has beautiful beaches, easy access to hills and valleys of the Muğla Province and is also billed as one of the most popular yacht charter, sailing and boating resorts in Turkey. Aside from the beaches, Marmaris has a vibrant night life, shops and restaurants. The Marmaris Museum in Marmaris Castle gives great panoramic views over the bay and has displays of the history of the region.
