Win Hill is a popular walking destination in the Peak District in Derbyshire, England. The hill northwest of Bamford, rising to a height of rises to 462m and topped by the Win Hill Pike, locally called the 'Pimple', on top of which is a trig point. The top of Win Hill is often used as a station for the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Win Hill is almost entirely surrounded by the River Derwent to, River Noe and Ladybower Reservoir. A land ridge runs north connecting it with Kinder Scout. On the top of this ride runs a Roman road from Glossop to Brough in the Hope Valley via Snake Pass.

In 626 the King of Wessex attacked the Northumbrians who were based on Win Hill from Lose Hill to the west. The Northumbrians won the battle by rolling stones onto their enemy as they tried to ascend Win Hill. Today Win Hill is on a popular 14km circular walking route that starts in Hope village and also takes in Lose Hill. This panorama shows the great views over the Peak District from the top of Win Hill.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE

Win Hill can be walked from either Bamford or Hope. These two villages are about 20 miles west of Sheffield.
